Part 2: Sunday updates for you!

Be sure to check out this quick link we prepared for you. We hope this helps with all of your questions and quick reference.

Pre-exam review:

  • Just before each exam, MECRA provides a pre-exam session via Zoom. The dates are available on our homepage www.mecra.info along with the Zoom link. You may join us at any session to assist you in your questions.

  • We strongly encourage that you review the videos, written material quizzes/flash cards, and sample log/transcript sessions prior to the exam.

  • CEOs and CERs - Review the "Red Line Items" prior to the exam and Section 4 annotated.

  • CERs - Review the Bubble Transcript and Section 5 annotated.

There is a FAQ section on our website. We are updating this section frequently along with the student blog. Please view this area prior to your exam for updates.



Test site questions: (Contact: David Siwik - see email below)

Please note that an individual may not sign up for more than one exam during a session. People who enroll in more than one exam per session period will be automatically unenrolled from one of the sessions.


Any request for exam disability accommodations must be made at least seven (7) days prior to the exam session. Requests must be emailed to David Siwik at siwikd@lcc.edu and must include documentation and exam date and time information.


Day of Testing: (Bring your driver's license for identification.)


  • You will receive information from Lansing Community College approximately 7 - 10 days prior to your exam. Keep an eye out for this information from LCC so you have all dates, times, and other details to assist you.

  • CEOs:

    • You will be given the written test online at the testing site. Your test results will be automatic.

    • The logging session will be administered the same day as your written test.

  • CERs:

    • You will be given the written test online at the testing site. You will receive test results upon completion of test.

    • The logging session will be administered the same day as your written test.

    • The transcription session will be the last leg of your testing.

      • Be sure to bring your own headset. You are not able to use blue tooth headsets. Foot pedals are provided. You may only bring your manual to the testing site for reference. Be sure to use the annotated Section 4 and 5.

    • NOTE: Logging and transcription results will be sent to you at a later date. You will be notified by LCC and SCAO.

  • Free Membership:

    • Once you pass the exam, you will receive a free MECRA membership as congratulation on your success. Simply go to our home page of the MECRA website at www.mecra.info and follow the membership links on the left side of the page under "Join Us."
